Lifelong Learning Networks (LLNs) were introduced by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) during summer 2004, to create progression routes and progression agreements into and through higher education (HE) for vocational learners in identified vocational sectors. Although our LLN is now closed this website will have resources available to access until July 2012. If you have any enquiries please contact Amelia Rout a.c.rout@staffs.ac.uk.

The Lifelong Learning Network for Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin
The overall objective for LLNs was to improve the coherence, clarity and certainty of progression opportunities for vocational learners into and through higher education. Our LLN facilitated dialogue around a number of key areas:
- removing barriers to progression; helping learners progress into and through HE
- developing existing IAG and co-ordinating related staff training
- engaging employers; developing and adapting curriculum that is fit for purpose
Led and hosted by Staffordshire University, in partnership with Keele University, University of Wolverhampton, Harper Adams University College and the Open University, we collaborated with 13 Further Education colleges and many employers across Staffordshire and Shropshire to help develop a workforce that is well qualified and confident to fulfil the needs of the local economy.
